reality games will become a major scene for companies to explore in the near future. a game which has no real objective, ie it cannot be completed nor can someone have total control. everquest only scrapes the surface for what lies ahead in online reality games. of course reality games cannot have an endless amout of choices and decisions that can be made, but it can be updated every now and then so the game world closely reaches an infinite decisive reality. the predicted hit of these so called games is in about 3 years. many companies have already begun on projects involving this reality technique, but it takes decades to properly create a life-like reality.

Like it or not, customers want a plot. As fun as "freelance" games are, there is never a feeling of satisfaction from having bested a game. The other problem with games like this is that there are too many roles to fill, and the detail gets so spread out that although there are plenty of roles to fill, none are all that interesting. Perhaps more "coose your own adventure" or more non-linear games like Daggerfall or Jagged Alliance 2 would be a good thing, but to move too far from structure makes a game simply no fun.

Sometimes, in some games, like everquest or the other MMORPGs, the objoective is simply to be. You go online, you create a character, and you get to live through that character with no main goal in front of you. Sure there are small goals, quests, levelling up your character, etc, but the thing is there is no point at which you have beaten any of these games completely, and I think that's what everyone is looking for now.

but none of us like to know it before it unfolds. Today, gaming a life systems are clearly programmed to the full extent of their definiton. For many commercial HIT games you can go online and download all the tricks to it. Wheres the plot there.

People like to play games no matter what as long as a challenge is there and the story can meet the speed in which their neuronal processing ticks! Automates and their digital analogs must learn how to turn their codes into self-assembling sources.
