It might be usefull in some way, say as a coordinate system. As for it doing math, it is vodoo with numbers I have seen it done with magic squares, very intresting and it looks like there is something to it but it is contrived. |

Thank's for your feedback! Great that you found it usefull in some sence!
I don't really follow you when it comes to the similarities with magic squares when you write "vodoo with numbers I have seen it done with magic squares". You can't do aritmetic or express boolean functions or express some sort of coordinate system with magic squares - least of all do them all in the same discreet system.
You also wrote "it is contrived". Isn't all AL research in some sense "contrived"? Isn't DNA a discreet blueprint with a plan written by evolution? |

You are right maybe not with magic squares (when I was playing with them it was only to help someone else and hence I have no documentation, though if you perform a mod(x) on them (I think the odd ones I am not sure) you can get some interesting results). As for this b-cell doing functions look at it again and you will see that it decribes the truth table for these functions it does not solve them. If you write out all of the possiblities[sp] in a table and then say that your table expresses this or that function there is nothing intressting[sp] about that.
As for all AL research being in some sence contrived I would have to say no. We can grow units that perform mathematical[sp] functions the difference between an AL unit performing the function and this b-cell performing the function is that our unit will give the answer[sp] with only the inputs while the b-cell will only give the correct answer if you follow the corect[sp] path or in the case of our table point to the correct row in the table. AL atempts to produce something that is in some sence greater than the sum of its parts (ie 1D CA's) to discover that point in time when complexity emerges from the promordial[sp] mix of bits (ie GP). We are not saying that AL does something that only works if certain conditions are met, AL does what it does and nothing more, yet. AL has the potential[sp] to do great things while the b-cell does not do logic functions although at some point it as I said before may be useful as a coordinate system.
As for DNA that is an intressting[sp] way to look at it are you saying that we ourselves are contrived by "?".
PS Please do not take any of this seriously[sp] it is just the ramblings of an idiot. If I were more familar[sp] with the internet I would have "LOL" all over this. [sp]= I think/know I spelled this wrong[sp] I can only hope you get the gest. |
